A Kerry Senator feels that the new partnership to expand therapy supports to people with Down syndrome will improve access to essential services in the county.
The initiative, "Glór – Voices for Life", will provide services including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and early intervention supports.
It was launched last month on World Down Syndrome Day, by Minister with responsibility for Disability, Emer Higgins.
Services will begin immediately and will be delivered through a phased national rollout, to expand access to therapeutic supports for people with Down Syndrome regardless of where they live.
The move has been welcomed by Fine Gael senator Mike Kennelly, who says that the partnership will improve access to communication and developmental services for people with Down syndrome across Kerry.
