The ongoing absence of a specialist for children in Kerry is placing serious strain on families.
That's according to Kerry senator Mike Kennelly, who is calling for urgent action to appoint a Paediatric Dermatology Consultant at University Hospital Kerry.
Currently, young patients with conditions such as severe eczema and psoriasis must travel to Dublin for treatment.
Senator Kennelly warned this means long journeys, added costs, and delays in care for families already under pressure.
Speaking in the Seanad, he urged the HSE and the Minister for Health to begin recruitment immediately and provide a clear timeline for the appointment.
