Kerry has the most blue flags of any county this year.
All of Kerry’s 13 blue flag beaches and two blue flag marinas have retained their status for 2025.
Furthermore, five Kerry beaches have received Green Coast Awards.
Baile an Sceilg (Ballinskelligs) is the only beach in Kerry, and one of just ten in the country, to be a dual award winner, claiming both a blue flag and a green coast award.
Kerry’s blue flag beaches for 2025 are Baile an Sceilg (Ballinskelligs), Ballybunion North Beach, Ballybunion South Beach, Ballyheigue, Banna Strand, Doire Fhíonáin (Derrynane), Fenit, Fionntrá (Ventry), Inch, Kells, Maharabeg, Rossbeigh, and White Strand (Caherciveen).
Fenit Marina also achieved a blue flag, as did the privately operated Portmagee Seasonal Pontoon.
Kerry and Donegal County Councils are the two local authorities with the most blue flag awarded sites, with 14 each in 2025.
Meanwhile, Baile an Sceilg (Ballinskelligs), Béal Bán, Castlegregory, Littor and Waterville all received Green Coast awards
The National Trust for Ireland, An Taisce, supported by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, runs the Blue Flag programme in Ireland on behalf of the Foundation of Environmental Education (FEE).
Blue flags are awarded to beaches for the bathing season, which in Ireland, is between 1st June and 15th September, and to marinas for up to 12 months, depending on their period of operation.
The awarded sites for Ireland are announced at the end of May each year.
An Taisce also runs the Green Coast Award.
This award is for beaches with excellent water quality, which are managed in partnership with voluntary Clean Coasts groups.
