Someone living in Kerry has been scammed out of €20,000 of their life savings.
The victim was taken in by online fraudsters, who persuaded him to Revolut the money to them, on the pretence that he was investing in cryptocurrency.
The fraud began with an ad which popped up on his phone.
It was only when he called in to his local bank in person - to withdraw another €4,000 to invest - that he was alerted to the fact that it was a scam.
Sgt Lynda Brosnan from Tralee Gardaí believes other people may also have been conned out of money by the same criminals.
