The average temperature in Kerry this summer was the joint second warmest on record.
That’s according to Met Éireann’s climate statement for Summer 2025.
The report shows, nationally, it was the warmest season for Ireland since records began in 1900.
According to the data, the average temperature nationally this summer was 16.19°C, 0.08°C higher than the previous warmest summer in 1995.
The report shows in Kerry, the average temperature was 15.9 °C, which is 1.1°C above the Long-Term Average (LTA) for summer.
This represents the joint second warmest summer logged by Valentia Observatory in 126 years, alongside the summer of 1955 and 2023.
The warmest summer on record in Kerry was in 1995, with an average temperature of 16.4 °C.
327 hours of sunshine were logged at Valentia Observatory in June, July and August.
The figures show rainfall in the county was 9% above average for summer, with 364.2mm rain recorded – 109% of it’s LTA.
