Kerry recorded the most rainy, dull and very wet days in Ireland last month.
That’s according to Met Éireann’s climate statement for January.
The report shows Valentia Observatory recorded 30 days of rain during the first month of 2026.
27 wet days were logged - a wet day is classified as a day with 1mm or more of rainfall.
Nine very wet days were recorded – this is when 10 or more millimetres of rain falls in a day.
The rainfall registered in Kerry was 15% above its long-term average (LTA) for January.
14 dull days were registered at Valentia Observatory - a dull day is one with less than half an hour of sunshine.
The mean air temperature at the South Kerry weather station was one degree below it’s LTA for the month, at 6.5 celsius.
Meanwhile, 62 hours of sunshine were recorded in the county during January.
