Kerry’s wind farms produced more electricity than any other county in May.
It generated 11.5 per cent of the Ireland’s wind power (80 GWh), or enough electricity to power almost 230,000 (228,500) Irish homes for a month.
Cork and Galway trailed the Kingdom in second and third place respectively.
In total, the country produced 693 gigawatt hours (GWh) of wind electricity, around 22 per cent of national demand.
Since the start of the year, wind has provided 33 per cent of the country’s electricity.
Meanwhile, this Sunday (15th June) is global Wind Day.
To mark the event, Wind Energy Ireland is inviting the public to visit a local wind farm during June.
There are participating wind farms nationwide, including at Kilathmoy.
