The Kerry Mountain Rescue Team responded to 12 callouts over a 6 week period.
The callouts occurred between May 22nd and July 4th, and included 7 incidents in the Reeks, 3 in the Brandon area, 1 on Torc mountain and 1 in Cappagh Glen.
7 of the incidents involved slips or falls, 4 related to lost parties and 1 was a cragfast casualty. Several callouts were collaborative efforts between multiple agencies including Dingle Coast Guard, Valentia Coast Guard, Coast Guard Helicopters R115 and R117, An Garda Siochana and the National Ambulance Service.
The rescue team also engaged in 2 training sessions which focused on the technical aspects of lowering and hauling stretchers in a variety of scenarios.
The Kerry Mountain Rescue Team has issued advice to any hillwalkers and hikers during the high temperatures forecast for the rest of the weekend.
Hikers are advised to avoid starting out in the hottest parts of the day ideally starting out and finising early.
The rescue team is also advising people to bring plenty of fluids and sun protection and to not forget to regularly re-apply sunscreen.
