Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae is seeking a court injunction over allegedly defamatory posts online about him by a Knocknagoshel woman.

Barrister for Mr Healy-Rae, Liz Murphy, told Judge Ronan Munro that she was seeking an interlocutory injunction over posts by Michelle Keane, a candidate in last year’s local and general elections.

Ms Murphy said the order she’s seeking is for Ms Keane to remove social media posts accusing her client of illegality and immorality, and to stop doing it.

The court heard that papers were served by e-mail over the weekend and attempts were made to serve them personally yesterday to Ms Keane’s home address.

Judge Munro adjourned the matter to next Tuesday.

He advised Ms Murphy and her instructing solicitor Dan O’Connor to make all reasonable efforts to serve Ms Keane with a letter to say a hearing will proceed uncontested in her absence on Tuesday, if she does not respond.
