Minister Norma Foley says it's her understanding that the redevelopment of Fitzgerald Stadium remains within the Immigrant Investor Programme (IIP).

The so-called ‘Golden Visa’ scheme, which ended in February 2023, allowed people, who weren't citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA), to live here if they invested in certain projects.

Kerry GAA launched a High Court challenge after the Minister for Justice refused to include the redevelopment of Fitzgerald Stadium in the programme.

The county board claimed it had found major Chinese investors to help fund both the Centre of Excellence in Currans and the Fitzgerald Stadium upgrade.

It alleged the refusal will result in the potential loss of at least €27 million already committed to redeveloping the Killarney stadium.

The High Court has not yet ruled.
