The Kerry Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) is due to complete work on a Migrant Integration Strategy this year.
The strategy involves consulting with a variety of migrant groups, community organisations, and agencies providing supports and services.
Kerry LCDC is the main body responsible for coordinating local and community development across the county.
As part of its role, the Kerry LCDC oversees the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP), which is the main government programme for tackling poverty and social exclusion at local level.
Kerry LCPC does not directly deliver services in most cases, but rather coordinates, funds, and reduces the duplication of others’ work.
In Kerry, SICAP is delivered by NEWKD, SKDP and IRD Duhallow.
In 2025, a total of 2.86 million euro (€2.86 million) was allocated to the programme in Kerry.
This included additional funding of over 862,000 euro (€862,263) to support the high number of immigrants into the county.
Under the 2025 SICAP, NEWKD had a budget of over 1.6 million euro (€1,631,956), the SKDP had a budget of over €1 million euro (€1,075,444), and IRD Duhallow had a budget of over 110,000 euro (€114,008).
The report says Kerry hosted over 7,500 (7,502) new arrivals in 2025, including over 6,600 (6,614) Ukrainians and 888 international protection applicants.
The current SICAP programme runs from 2024 to 2028.
