Kerry jockey Oisin Murphy has been fined £70,000 and banned from driving for 20 months after admitting to drink driving.
The charge relates to an incident back in April, when Murphy crashed his car into a tree in Berkshire.
Yesterday at Reading Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded guilty to one count of driving a motor vehicle while over the legal alcohol limit.
In a statement on his social media, Oisin Murphy apologised for his actions, and said he knows drink driving is unacceptable and there is no excuse for what he did.
The Kerry jockey added he let a lot of people down, and said it would not be appropriate for him to comment further until the British Horseracing Authority’s enquiries are concluded.
