Today is the last day to legally burn gorse and other vegetation on uncultivated land until September.
Under the Wildlife Act, it’s illegal to do so between March 1st and August 31st in order to protect nesting birds and habitat.
Last year, the Department of Agriculture fined 56 farmers in Kerry for illegal burning.
