The Gardaí, HSE and Kerry County Council are appealing to people not to attend any unofficial gatherings on the days of cancelled events.

The three organisations are reminding people festivals, fairs and public events which were due to take place in Kerry over the coming weeks, were cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Gardaí, HSE and Kerry County Council are particularly reminding the public that neither Puck Fair or Kenmare’s traditional annual Fair Day on August 15th are taking place this year.

They say large crowds congregating for unofficial gatherings, pose a threat to public health in the current climate.

The three organisations also believe such gatherings are likely to cause difficulties with social distancing.

Superintendent Flor Murphy is appealing to people to act responsibly and comply with the public health advice. He says additional policing measures will be implemented at both locations to ensure public health guidelines are complied with.
