A Kerry Roads Policing Unit inspector says they've stopped people watching soccer and soap operas on their mobile phone while driving.
Increased checkpoints are taking place throughout Kerry this bank holiday weekend and there'll be an increased focus on distracted drivers.
Inspector Gary Carroll says while the vast majority of motorists heed their messages, there is a small percentage of people who engage in dangerous behaviours on our roads.
He says they've witnessed people watching matches while driving, which he says is unacceptable.
Gardaí are asking people to never drive while under the influence of drink or drugs, to wear their seat belts and reduce their speed.
Meanwhile, Inspector Gary Carroll is appealing to all pedestrians to wear high-vis jackets when out on the roads.
He says visibility is key for all road users and that reflective jackets are available for free from the Road Safety Authority.
