Kerry was among the Garda Divisions which sent the most specimens for drug and alcohol testing last year.
That’s according to the Medical Bureau of Road Safety’s (MBRS) report for 2024, which shows 5,900 blood and urine specimens were tested.
Of these, 295 were received from Garda Stations within Kerry, the sixth highest nationally.
The report shows 628 samples were taken at hospitals nationwide, 26 of which were provided in UHK.
According to MBRS, 78% of all motorists arrested for driving under the influence were aged under 45 - the youngest driver arrested was 14, while the eldest was 94 years old.
