A Kerry Fianna Fáil TD says he would have no problem supporting a joint presidential candidate with his party and Fine Gael.
Fianna Fáil has not yet publicly backed any one candidate for the presidential election, which will take place later this year.
Kerry TD Michael Cahill says his party is still sounding out possible candidates.
He also suggested that if Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae, or his brother Independent TD Danny, sought to run for the presidency, they would stand a good chance.
On the possibility of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael backing the one candidate, Deputy Cahill says he wouldn’t be against it.
