Kerry driver found travelling 141kph in 100kph zone

A Kerry driver was found responsible for one of the notable speeds detected during Gardaí road surveillance over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

The driver was found to be travelling at 141kph in a 100kph zone in Killaha.

A Garda Roads Policing Operation is taking place across the country throughout the Easter Bank Holiday; it began Thursday morning 2nd April and will continue until Tuesday 7th April.

Nationally, over 1,400 drivers were detected for speeding offences during the first 48 hours of the operation.

Throughout this weekend's Roads Policing Operation, Gardaí are conducting both statutory Mandatory Intoxicant Testing (MIT) and regular, high-visibility policing checkpoints.

To date, a total of 66 people were arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

An Garda Síochána and the Road Safety Authority are urging all road users to support their efforts to keep them and all others on the roads safe this Easter Weekend.
