Doctors in Kerry are reporting a drop in community transmission rates of the coronavirus.

That’s according to Dr Eamonn Shanahan of the Irish College of General Practioners.

Farranfore based GP said hospitals will be dealing with the spike in positive COVID cases for at least another 10 days but he said community transmission rates are reducing.

Dr Eamonn also said he is very hopeful that if the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine is approved, the majority of the population will be vaccinated in the first half of the year.

But he said people will be vaccinated according to Government guidelines so there’s no point ringing your GP to try to jump the queue.
