A Kerry county councillor has said the level of mobile blackspots across the county is unacceptable.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Norma Moriarty said the issue is particularly bad in the Coars-Kilognaveen-Filmore area.

She requested that Kerry County Council write to Vodafone and Com Reg seeking a detailed report on what is required to improve mobile phone coverage.

Cllr Moriarty said that residents should not have to live without mobile phone coverage and the issue can’t be allowed to continue.

The motion was supported by Independent Cllr Johnny Healy-Rae.
