A Kerry County Councillor claims proposed reductions in speed limits in urban areas of the county are confusing.
Kerry County Council has opened public consultation on new draft speed limit bye-laws.
These would see the speed limit reduced from 50km/h to 30km/h in many urban or built-up locations.
Independent councillor Jackie Healy-Rae says in some cases these plans are proposing different speed limits on the same section of road at different times of the day.
He says this will be confusing for motorists and believes it will only benefit speed detection vans:
People can submit their views on these plans until August 7th and the plans can be viewed on Kerry County Council’s website.

He believes behaviour on roads is resulting in some collisions.
