A Kerry county councillor is calling for the Department of Agriculture to provide a roadmap for fishing development in Cromane.
Cllr Michael Cahill says Cromane fishermen have recently received a blanket refusal of all aquaculture licence appeal applications.
The Fianna Fáil councillor is urging the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to direct Department officials to engage with local representatives on this issue.
Cllr Cahill says a roadmap should be provided to develop fishing interests in the area in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
He adds a roadmap to develop fishing would secure and enhance the future livelihoods of many families in Cromane, while protecting the environment.
