A Kerry county councillor has called for the Kenmare Flood Relief Scheme to be moved forward.
Fianna Fail Cllr Tommy Cahill said that stronger measures are needed in light of recent weather events.
He raised the issue at the Kenmare Municipal District meeting.
Cllr Cahill said that residents deserve peace of mind, calling particular attention to Cahersiveen, where he says people living on Quay Street are in constant fear of flooding.
He said that delays to flood relief works put people’s lives at risks and will lead to ‘extortionate’ costs down the road.
