Kerry County Council’s tourism unit is working with Tourism Ireland’s golf division to ensure Kerry is fully prepared for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.
That’s according to council officials responding to a query from Fine Gael councillor Angie Baily.
Cllr Baily requested an update on Kerry’s Ryder Cup marketing campaign at the recent Tralee Municipal District meeting.
She noted that the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome is estimated to have boosted the local economy by over quarter of a billion euro (€262 million).
Cllr Baily believes Kerry is ideally placed to benefit significantly from the Ryder Cup in County Limerick.
However, she warned of a potential major shortfall in accommodation.
Kerry County Council’s tourism unit and Tourism Ireland plan to promote Kerry as a leading golf and holiday destination, particularly targeting the US, UK, and European markets.
The council's tourism unit has confirmed it will advertise in The Spirit of Ireland, a North American travel magazine with a circulation of 100,000 and distribution to 2,500 tour operators.
The Autumn 2025 edition will feature a special focus on golf, helping to highlight Kerry’s golf courses and related offerings.
Council management also stated that discussions are ongoing with local stakeholders, including the Kerry Tourism Industry Federation, the Irish Hotels Federation, and Fáilte Ireland, to ensure the county is well positioned to maximise the opportunities presented by the Ryder Cup.
