An elected councillor has urged Kerry County Council to undertake a formal review into how public consultations are advertised.
Cllr Niall Kelleher made the plea at the recent Killarney Municipal District meeting.
He said the current process of statutory notices is not working and it needs to be modernised.
The Fianna Fáil councillor noted that a recent public consultation in relation to traffic calming measures in the Park Road, only received two responses.
Cllr Kelleher said thousands of people live in this area, but the lack of engagement shows something must be done.
He urged the council to engage in a PR exercise around the process, and to utilise local media outlets with an online presence going forward.
