Kerry County Council are being urged to acquire what’s been described as one of the last remaining ghost estates in Ireland.
Fine Gael councillor Tommy Griffin tabled a motion at the recent Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne MD meeting.
He sought the local authority to acquire the Annagh Banks estate in Castlemaine for an affordable housing scheme.
Cllr Griffin described it as a blight on the landscape in the area, with 14 units waiting to be completed.
The motion was seconded by Fianna Fáil councillor, Breandán Fitzgerald.
In response the council advised it’s progressing the assessment and delivery of affordable housing and will initially invite proposals for Tralee and Killarney.
