Kerry County Council is one of five local authorities to receive a combined total of €1.5 million as part of Failte Ireland's ‘Ireland, Home of Halloween Strategy’.
The announcement was made by Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke.
The pilot Home of Halloween Pilot Destination Development Scheme invited all Local Authorities to apply for funding to create a new season for Halloween festivals rooted in local culture, folklore, and community engagement.
Each of the five local authorities will receive up to €100,000 annually over the next three years.
Kerry County Council's offering will bring the origins of Samhain and the Cailleach Chiarraí, or Kerry Hag to life across the county's towns and villages.
The announcement has been welcomed by Kerry TD Deputy Michael Cahill
