Kerry County Council has committed to developing a new location in Tralee where teenagers can socialise.
The lack of such a facility in the town, was raised by students from Mercy Mounthawk secondary school, during a recent visit to council chambers.
Cllr Mikey Sheehy, who brought up the subject at a recent Tralee MD meeting, says the concept is for a youth cafe, which would also be a creative zone and a music space for the town's young people.
He says he got a positive response from the council to the idea of developing such a facility, and he's hopeful there will be movement on the project in the short term:
