The 2026 Young Scientist of the year, Aoibheann Daly, will be honoured with a civic reception today.
This is the highest honour that can be bestowed by Kerry County Council.
In January, the Mercy Mounthawk student scooped the prize at the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.
Aoibheann Daly won for her project GlioScope, which is designed to help doctors improve the treatment of brain cancer, and reduce the need for invasive biopsies.
The ceremony takes place at Áras an Chontae this afternoon.
