A Kerry Councillor has called for public transport in Kerry to be made free of charge during ongoing fuel protests.
In a statement sent to the Taoiseach, along with local Ministers and TDs, he said that public transport services need to operate at maximum capacity.
Cllr John O'Donoghue said that Kerry is among the worst affected counties, with fuel ‘scarcely available’.
He emphasised that the people of Kerry are very dependent on cars and need free public transport until the issue is resolved
Meanwhile, Deputy Danny Healy-Rae has condemned the use of pepper spray and the presence of the Defence Forces at Whitegate oil refinery in Cork.
The Independent TD said he is critical of the pace the Government is handling the protest.
Deputy Healy-Rae says the current situation has reached a ‘crisis point’ and asked that the Dáil be recalled tomorrow.
