Kerry County Council has been allocated over €2.7 million to retrofit 80 homes.
Under the 2025 Energy Efficiency Retrofit Programme (EERP), €90 million is available to local authorities to retrofit a minimum of 2,500 social homes to a B2 BER rating post works.
The Energy Efficiency Retrofit Programme is a government initiative, with a key goal of retrofitting 500,000 homes to a minimum B2 energy rating by 2030.
Eligible upgrades include attic and cavity wall insulation, external wall insulation, window and door replacement, and heat pump installation.
The programme aims to retrofit 36,500 local authority homes to a minimum B2 BER rating by 2030.
In total €2.72 million has been allocated to Kerry County Council to facillitate the works, as well as just over €163,000 in project management funding allocations.
This will facillitate the retrofitting of 80 local authority homes in the county.
Nationwide it is hoped that 2,500 local authority homes will be retrofitted in 2025, at a total cost of €90 million.
