A jury has been sworn in to hear the trial of three people accused of the murder of a father-of-one in North Kerry.
The victim, Gerard Kennelly, was found with fatal stab injuries at Knockanure village, in the early hours of Monday, May 27th, 2024.
The jury of six men and six women were sworn in at the Central Criminal Court, sitting in Limerick, to hear the case before Mr Justice Paul Burns.
The three accused are Kieran Brady, who's in his mid 30s, from Upper Athea, Co Limerick; 24-year-old Abigail Lynch of Glenview Terrace, Limerick and formerly of Woodview Place, Tarbert, and Kane Hornyak, aged 29, of Doon Road, Ballybunion.
All three face a single charge that they murdered Mr Kennelly, contrary to common law.
Each of the three accused entered “not guilty” pleas to the charges.
The jury was told the trial could last up to three weeks, and that it would get underway properly this Friday.
Abigail Lynch was represented by senior counsel Mark Lynam and barrister Caroline O’Connell, instructed by Eimear Griffin of Padraig J O’Connell Solicitors, Killarney.
Senior counsel Bernard Condon and barrister Richard Liston, instructed by Fahy Bambury Solicitors, Dublin, represent Kieran Brady.
Kane Hornyak is represented by senior counsel Seamus Clarke and barrister Katie O’Connell , instructed by solicitor Padraig J O’Connell.
