Jury still considering verdict in trial of Kerry man accused of murdering brother

The jury in the trial of a Kerry man accused of murdering his brother is still considering its verdict.

Fergus O’Connor of The Village, Scartaglen, is charged with the murder of his brother, Pádraig ‘Paudie’ O’Connor at 32 An Caisleán Mór, Castleisland, on June 28th 2024, contrary to common law.

The 42-year-old denies the charge, and has gone on trial at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Limerick before Ms Justice Melanie Greally.

Fergus O’Connor is represented by Senior Counsel Mark Nicholas, with Caroline O’Connell BL, instructed by solicitor Eimear Griffin from the office of Killarney solicitor Pádraig O’Connell.

The jury of eight men and four women deliberated for over three hours yesterday, and have not yet come back with a verdict.
