Jury begins deliberation in trial of Kenmare man accused of threatening to kill another man

The jury has begun deliberations in the case of a man on trial in Kerry for threatening to kill a man.

57-year-old John Foley of Kenmare town is standing trial on three counts of threatening to kill Pat Harney, and one count of criminal damage of Mr Harney's house, all in March and April 2020.

The court heard that Mr Foley thought his partner Margaret 'Peggy' Delaney was having an affair with Mr Harney.

Ms Delaney denied the affair, telling the court that she had broken up with Mr Foley two years before the alleged incidents.John Foley pleaded not guilty.

Judge Alec Gabbell charged the jury of five women and seven men in Tralee Circuit Court to presume the defendant innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The jury retired to the jury room shortly before 11:20am to begin their deliberations.
