The government won't be found wanting when it comes to supporting people with rising fuel prices.

That's according to minister of state at the Department of Rural Development, Jerry Buttimer, who was in Kerry today.

He was speaking as the conflict in the Middle East continues to destabilise volatile oil and gas markets.

New data from the European Commission shows Ireland has experienced the largest increase in home-heating oil prices anywhere in the EU, up 27.3 per cent in a single week - eight times the EU average.
