Ireland sat back on its laurels when it came to the development of offshore wind farms.
That’s according to Minister of State at the Department of Climate, Environment and Energy with special responsibility for the Marine, Timmy Dooley, who expects offshore wind turbines will be built off the coast of Kerry.
The government has published the National Designated Maritime Area Plan (DMAP) for Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE).
It details the strategic plan to identify suitable offshore renewable energy locations off Ireland’s coast, as part of the next wave of electricity generation in Ireland.
