The junior mental health minister says an increase in waiting list for CAMHS is due to ADHD referrals.
Minister of State Mary Butler said two HSE areas were now bearing 50 per cent of the national waiting list: HSE southwest, covering Kerry and Cork, and HSE Dublin and northeast.
Mary Butler said up to 70 percent of referrals to a child and adolescent mental health service in Cork are due to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
She also said she has a zero tolerance for the current waiting lists in the system - with some children waiting a year-and-a-half for assessments.
