Judge confers Irish citizenship on over 5,000 in Killarney

Over today and tomorrow, Judge Paddy McMahon will confer Irish citizenship on more than 5,000 people in Killarney.

Citizenship ceremonies began at the Gleneagle Arena Killarney this morning and will continue tomorrow.

Six ceremonies are being held over the two days.

Judge Paddy McMahon is the presiding officer at the ceremonies.

He bestows Irish citizenship on attendees by administering the Declaration of Fidelity to the Irish Nation and Loyalty to the State:
