Jessie Buckley’s father praises Golden Globe nomination as fantastic achievement

Jessie Buckley’s father says it’s an amazing achievement for his daughter to be nominated for a Golden Globe.

Nominations for the 2026 Golden Globes were announced yesterday, with Killarney actor Jessie Buckley up for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.

She stars in Hamnet with Paul Mescal, in which he plays William Shakespeare and Buckley plays his wife, Agnes.

The film is up for six Golden Globes in total, including Best Motion Picture and Best Screenplay.

Jessie Buckley’s father, Tim, says it’s fantastic for two great Irish actors to be nominated at once.
