Jessie Buckley’s family say the pride they have in her Oscar success is indescribable.
The Killarney native won the Best Actress Award at the 98th Oscars in Los Angeles overnight, for her role in Hamnet.
The Buckley family held an Academy Awards watch along event at the Arbutus Hotel last night.
Jessie’s first cousin, Radio Kerry’s Brendan Fuller, says their late grandmother Dr Norrie Buckley was a huge inspiration to Jessie.
He believes his cousin shares many of their grandmothers’ traits, and Jessie is an inspiration to so many across the globe.
Meanwhile, members of Killarney Musical Society are bursting with pride following Jessie’s Oscars success.
That’s according to long-standing member of the society and Labour councillor for Killarney, Marie Moloney.
Cllr Moloney says Jessie Buckley’s passion and talent were there to see from a young age and now her dreams have come through.
