The president of the Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA) says insurance companies need to be prepared to fight dubious motor insurance claims in the courts.
Ger Hyland believes insurers are far too willing to go for the easy option and agree a settlement with a claimant at a discount.

Mr Hyland says an insurance broker told a recent IRHA conference that awards for psychological damage have skyrocketed.
He believes this is prompting concerns that psychological claims are becoming common in a way that whiplash claims once were.
