An Ireland South MEP says proposals by the US that would see officials checking the social media history of tourists are concerning.
These proposals suggest that visitors may have the last five years of their social media investigated by US authorities before they're allowed to enter the States.
Fine Gael MEP Seán Kelly, who is from Kilcummin, says these proposals must be toned down and he feels they are impinging on the basic principles of freedom of expression.
He says this would be like people that wanted to go to America 50 years ago needing to supply all their letters and correspondence from previous years:
