An Ireland South MEP says delays in ACRES payments are eroding farmers' trust in government schemes.

Michael McNamara believes prolonged delays in processing payments to farmers in Kerry is diminishing confidence in the programme.

The Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) is designed to support farmers in adopting environmentally friendly practices.

The independent MEP says farmers have worked tirelessly to be compliant with requirements, but thousands have been left out of pocket for their efforts.

Michael McNamara has urged the Agriculture Minister to provide assurances and put permanent solutions in place to resolve the issue.
