An Ireland South MEP has praised the potential of a new European Parliament report to close the gender pension and pay gap.
Kathleen Funchion was the Left Group negotiator on the report from the Employment and Socials Affairs Committee.
The report was "comfortably" passed through at committee level this week, and will be brought before the entire Parliament for ratification.
Sinn Féin MEP Funchion says the report sets out attainable goals to strengthen woman's participation in the workplace.
Goals include more flexible working arrangements, as well as more accessible and affordable childcare and long-term care.
