An Ireland South MEP says EU guidelines for banks and insurers treating cancer survivors don’t go far enough.
Fianna Fáil MEP Billy Kelleher is calling for real legislation across member states.
He argues hundreds of thousands of survivors are still being denied basic financial products because of past diagnoses.
Kelleher says medical advances mean many people live full lives after cancer, and discrimination by financial providers must end.
The European Parliament is expected to back a resolution calling for a pan-European “Right to be Forgotten” law.
Kelleher says equal access to mortgages and insurance should be guaranteed for cancer survivors across all EU member states.
