Ireland South MEP calls for amnesty on planning for short-term lets

An Ireland South MEP is calling for an amnesty on planning for short-term lets for this year.

It comes as new rules on such accommodation is set to begin in eight weeks under the Short-Term Letting (STL) Register.

MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú, who is an EU tourism taskforce member, says linking the system to planning permission would be unfair.

She believes the regulations are causing confusion and panic among operators.

The Fianna Fáil MEP says clarity is needed and is urging the Housing Minister to act:
