An Ireland South MEP who is a domestic abuse survivor, says the new domestic violence register should include coercive control offenders.
Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan will bring draft legislation to cabinet tomorrow, which will see people convicted of domestic violence publicly named.
It will be named Jennie’s Law, in honour of Jennifer Poole, who was murdered by her ex-partner Gavin Murphy in 2021.
Ireland South MEP for Sinn Féin, Kathleen Funchion, is a survivor of domestic abuse, and her ex-partner was jailed earlier this year for four months.
