The Irish Natura & Hill Farmers' Association is calling for major changes to curb the number of dog attacks on livestock.
Its vice president, John Joe Fitzgerald from West Kerry, says the group is meeting with the Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture next week.
The INHFA recently launched its petition - which features over 50 pages of dog attacks across Ireland - titled "Reform of dog control on our hills and farm lands".
The group is also taking the petition - which calls for several measures, including dog DNA sampling - to the European Parliament.
Kerry County Council recently launched a map which shows 37 dog attacks on livestock have been reported in Kerry in the last four years.
