The leader of Independent Ireland says the party is in discussions with people, including in Kerry, to grow it’s membership.
Independent councillor for the Castleisland MD Charlie Farrelly confirmed to Radio Kerry that the party contacted him about joining.
However, Cllr Farrelly confirmed he wants to remain as an independent politician.
Independent Ireland leader, Deputy Michael Collins says the party has experienced a jump in membership in Kerry.
He says the party are speaking with both elected representatives and members of the public:
Meanwhile, Deputy Michael Collins says while he welcomes the governments fuel support package, he believes more should have been done sooner.
He says Independent Ireland supported the fuel protests, but would rather they didn’t blockade ports.
When asked on Kerry Today would he support a similar protest - involving the blockade of fuel depots and the country's only refinery - he said it would depend on the protestors' cause:
