Independent councillor says HSE needs to explain delays in opening of Killarney Community Nursing Unit

The HSE must explain why there’s a delay to the opening of the Killarney Community Nursing Unit.

That’s according to independent councillor for the Killarney Municipal District, Cllr Niall “Botty” O’Callaghan.

The Killarney CNU was initially estimated for completion in late 2024, however it has faced several delays.

Last week, the Irish Nurses' and Midwives' Organisation referred the opening of the facility to the Workplace Relations Commission.

It’s understood the HSE and INMO are due back before the WRC today.

Cllr O’Callaghan questioned why the opening has been referred to the WRC, and says the Health Service needs to explain the delays.
